new orange indicator light on iphones

when I make a call - is the orange microphone indicator light supposed to be on? I'm getting a little nervous about seeing it when I make phone calls

iPhone 11 Pro, iOS 14

It’s there to notify you an app is using the microphone.

You should only be worried if you see it when nothing should be using your microphone.

Yes. With iOS 14, you see the orange light to indicate your microphone is being used. You will see a green light to indicate your camera is being used.

Yes. Similarly, you’ll see the green light when using Camera or (video) FaceTime.
