When I connect my iPhone on iOS 14. 01 to my car using a USB cable it changes my audio input from FM to Apple Car Play. Also when using the phone while connected when I open an app it again changes input to Apple Car Play. This didn’t used to happen and does not happen on my husbands iPhone Xr on iOS 14.01

If you are not wanting the iPhone to connect via CarPlay but USB instead, you may want to consider removing the car from your Bluetooth settings so that it does connect to the iPhone at all, if connected.
To complete this process, follow the steps of this resource: Pair a third-party Bluetooth accessory with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch (check out the specific steps in the section titled "Unpair a Bluetooth accessory")
Also do the same in the car's Bluetooth settings to see if this resolves your issue.

This did not solve the issue ... I can connect to apple car play ... it just changes my input and I don’t want it to
