iMessage taking up too much iCloud storage.

iMessage is taking up too much iCloud space. It is currently taking up 3.6 GB; however, my top conversation is less than 50 MB. Also, iMessage is only taking up 584.1 MB of local storage (on my iPhone). What could be causing this? I tried deleting large attachments, eliminated the most space-consuming conversations, online resources (even though most were outdated), etc. No matter what I tried, nothing solved this issue.

I checked the ones I know I text the most in. I went ahead and deleted a couple of attachments. However, according to the local storage I have less than 100 MB in attachments. My top conversation is now only 11.2 MB since I deleted most attachments for most conversations. It's just so weird though because my iCloud storage is 3.6 GB for iMessage, 1.3 GB for Photos, 80 MB for Notes, and the rest are less than Notes. I don't really want to upgrade my iCloud (I have the 5GB free plan), especially since only two apps are using significant cloud storage.
