Can't change permissions to folders with a red circle and white line

Hello World -

I have several folder with a red circle and white line inside Macintosh hard drive folders. I ran disk utility and saw no changes. I zapped the PRAM and that did do anything else.

I cannot change permissions and get the following errors.

"The operation can’t be completed because you don’t have the necessary permission."

I tried to open folder and cannot move to trash. I get the following errors.

"The folder “LOREM” can’t be opened because you don’t have permission to see its contents."

Thank you everyone

Why not? They are OS folders.

The root level of the OS is mounted on a Read-only volume.

Why do you think you should be able to alter an OS folder. That would imply any user could alter the OS folders.
