Magic Mouse2 connection

Magic Mouse2 is on and charged; MacBook Pro Bluetooth is on; Mouse2 shows up on Bluetooth preferences but when I click connect it briefly says "connected" then goes to "not connected?" Any thoughts?

Welcome, DRogers703915, to Apple Support Communities!

You’re having trouble getting your Magic Mouse 2 to connect and stay connected to your MacBook Pro.

What version of macOS are you running?

On Catalina, the appropriate System Preference to use is Mouse: that deals with both the configuration, but, also, the Setting Up of Bluetooth Mice.

Additionally, do you, by chance, have other devices you have paired with your Magic Mouse 2? That can be a complication, but not too bad to deal with.
