Can i use the old USB-A to charge the new Iphone 12 pro max?
If yes, whats the difference if I buy/use the Usb-C

Yes, the old USB-A chargers work fine with an iPhone 12.
The new USB-C charger can charge your phone faster because it has a higher wattage rating. If you need a quick charge that might be important to you, but if you charge you phone overnight it won't matter at all.
