Touch ID randomly stops working

I just updated to Big Sur and the problem I am facing is that the Touch ID randomly stops working after I lock the screen and I have to enter the password instead of using the Touch ID to log back in. Any fix for this?

Thank you

Hey, I have some good news! The update to BigSur 11.2 has solved the issue for me. Unlock via touchID is working well at the lock screen again. First time, and every time :-)

I would recommend updating as soon as possible!

I have the same issue, however Touch ID does generally work the first time the lock screen is presented. After that, it fails to register a correct fingerprint and I need to enter the password to get back into the machine. The Touch ID system does continue to work for things like Safari logon however.

This has only started happening after the Big Sur upgrade 2 days ago.

I came on to say the same thing. If I delete all fingerprints and re-add them it will work once and then not again. The issue only started after installing Big Sur. I didn't have any previous version of it or the beta version either. And ironically, coming here to comment, had to log-in and the first thing that pops up is the TouchID to log-in!
