Trash preferences in Big Sur Mail Program

Does anyone know how to set the preferences for the Trash bin in Mail on Big Sur. I have an all trash bin, and the preferences are set to that bin, but when I delete an email I get a new trash bin appearing under the on my Mac sidebar for that account (I have multiple accounts). If I delete it from there, it moves to that all trash bin and I have to delete it again. How do I keep those other trash bins from appearing?

For anyone else who has this problem, what I had to do was hover over favorites and then click on the plus to add a mailbox. I then had to click on trash to add an all trash mailbox, which I did not have after the update. In preferences I had to set the preferences for each account to trash under the account name in mailbox behaviors, not to the trash on my mac That appears to have taken care of the issue.

Make changes to your Mail>preferences.

I did that, as stated above. I selected the On My Mac Trash bin, but it creates a new trash bin under On my Mac for each account every time I delete something. These also appear in the all trash bin so they have to be deleted twice. I just want them to go to the all trash bin so I need only delete them once.

The email server contains a built-in "Trash" folder. If you switch Mail to use the On My Mac Trash, it will show the server folder under the server name. If you set Mail to use the server folder, it will appear in the unified All Trash Mailbox.

Most email servers will prevent you from deleting the standard email folders.
