I have a MacBook Pro (2015) with Final Cut Pro. They have released an update to 10.5, but my MacBook tells me there are no updates for Final Cut Pro. Is this 10.5 update only available for the new silicon Macs?

It is for all macs running Catalina, Big Sur (and I think still Mojave 10.14.6).
If it does not show in Updates, drag your current application to the trash (but don't empty just yet).
Then open the App Store, search for Final Cut Pro and click Download.

Not only can't you download it on Mojave, you can't even open it as I discovered when I copied it to my Mac mini as a test.
I think Mojave was an error on the Apple website. It's since been removed and update to Catalina 10.15.6 or later.

Usually if it doesn't work it appears in Applications with the prohibited icon.
