Connection Question

I am looking to use my iMac 2020 as a second screen for my MacBook Air (2013) but not sure what cable I need to achieve this?

I understand that the MacBook is Thuderbolt 1/2 and the iMac Thunderbolt 3, but confused when looking on Amazon etc.

Any advice or help is much appreciated.

You would need a Mini-Display port cable: Mini-Display Port Cable - Amazon.com

2020 iMac models no longer support being used as displays for other Macs natively. Apple is no longer supporting Target Display Mode on 2020 Macs and going forward.

There is currently no single cable that will let you do this.

If you must use your 2020 iMac as a display you will need a 3rd party solution such as Luna Display:
