Cannot get my watch band off

Trying to replace a watch band, but I cannot get the watch, series 2, to release the band. When I oress the band release buttons, they do not seem to do anything. I have tried holding the button down and sliding. I have tried multiple times with no success. On an older watch, when I press the watch release button, I can actually feel it release. That does not seem to be the case with this series to watch. If anyone has any thoughts that may be helpful, I would greatly appreciate it.
