Reinstalling macOS Big Sur in recovery mode from utilities window: "Reinstall macOS Big Sur /Install a new copy of macOS Big Sur onto your Mac." Process stuck at "About 13 minutes remaining" for several hours now.

Suggestions for resolution of this issue will be greatly appreciated.

Eventually cancelled operation "Reinstall macOS Big Sur" and retried some while later. Left device on + open and went to bed. Checked device this morning and screen was on setup assistant. Entered "Command" + "q" to quit setup assistant and shutdown device. Device now boxed for trade-in return shipping pickup.
