upgrading to Big Sur is a monumental disaster

I HAVE BEEN TRYING FOR 4 HOURS TO GET RID OF Big Sur AND RETURN TO CATALINA. ANYONE HAVE A SOLUTION. APPLE'S ADVICE WAS TO TAKE MY 27" IMAC TO A REPAIR SHOP. THEY KNOW THAT THERE IS A FLAW WITH THE LATEST UPGRADE YET GAVE ME THAT ADVICE. SOME SUPPORT

FWIW Big Sur installed and is running fine on my 2015 27” iMac. I would suggest that you restore your iMac from the Time Machine or other backup that you were instructed to make before you upgraded.
