My husband has a series 3 cellular Apple Watch. It didn’t come with a strap so just brought a cheap one. For Xmas I want to get him a apple one. I see the straps come in 40 or 44mm what strap would fit his correctly?

not sure how much you want to spend, but take a look at the silver link-bracelet band. I've had one since the first Apple Watch and of all my bands, it is my favorite.
38mm and 40mm watch faces use the same band
42mm and 44mm use the same band

So like what’s the difference will there be a gap when you fit it in the watch? Or is it the strap that’s bigger as you go down
