There is not a single MacBook Air model nor is there a single MacBook Pro model so describing the difference in general would not be very useful. About the only thing I can think of that applies to all of them is that the MacBook Air case is tapered (thinner at the edge that opens than the edge that has the hinge and it is slightly lighter in weight. You may want to use the following to select a specific model from each line and compare details: Mac - Compare Models - Apple
