"Installation of MacOS could not continue"

Got a new M1 Macbook, so attempting to wipe my late 2013 Macbook Pro and install Big Sur, which it had on it already. Did the disk erase part and then booted into Recovery Mode and then went to install Big Sur, but get this error message, as pictured. The implication is that this is a temporary network problem or some such thing as it suggests I "try again later". How later? In an hour? In a week? What?

Anyone know what is going on and how to get Big Sur installed on my now erased Macbook Pro?
