Press the top button or let it lock itself automatically based on the time chosen in Settings > Display & Brightness > Auto-Lock.

Be aware that if you are backing up via the "Backup Now" option, it doesn't need to be locked. That is only required for automatic backup while charging and I do that by just letting it auto-lock itself.
