Does endnote work with the new M1 MacBooks?

Both Endnote and ChemDraw work on the M1 Mac but not natively. They run on the Rosetta 2 system. However, you won't notice much of a difference as these softwares run super fast on this M1 chip even when they don't run natively. There would only be one slight glitch as there is a new M1 compatible version of MS Word. If you have this version automatically installed on Mac, then it would not recognize your Endnote due to the mismatch with the "cite while you write" compatibility. The trick to get around this is as following:

1. Quit EndNote and Word.
2.  Open Finder and go to the Applications folder. 
3. Highlight the Microsoft Word app file by clicking on it once. Note: You do not need to launch Word, just highlight it.
4. Go to the File menu at the top of your screen and choose Get Info.
5. Under General, check the option for Open using Rosetta.

This is a temporary solution to the issue and won't be resolved fully until Endnote releases a software update compatible to run natively on the M1 chip.

I got "Mendeley Word Plugin Problem", and I followed the steps listed here by the Mendeley -

However, the problem persists and I do not know how to solve this.

There is a growing compatibility list at https://isapplesiliconready.com/. If you don’t get answers there you might have to contact the developers for each app which is important to you.

Both endnote and chemdraw works. Mendeley also works, but you will see some error meessages in the beginning. Even Mnova works. I’m using m1 pro.

Do you know whether EndNote 20 will work through Rosetta2, also, or will it be M1 Native?

I can't seem to find info on that anywhere.

Hi. I tried the advice on having Word open in Rosetta; still no luck with Endnote. Can't do my job without Endnote.
