calendar event alerts

My phone is not allowing me to add alerts to calendar events. It appears to be in 1hr default but have not set that. How can I clear this up?

iPhone 7, iOS 14

Open Settings, tap Calendar and tap Default Alert Times. Also, for all-day events, you only have a limited set of reminder options. You have the full list of reminder options for events scheduled during a day, e.g. an event from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
