Own 3 standard VGA monitors (1920 x 1080) ; looking to purchase either a 2020 13" M1 MacBook or a 16" i9 MacBook; is there a way for either of these MacBooks to support 3 external monitors ?

The 16" MacBook Pro can do it.

The M1 laptops support only one external display.
