How do i get Icloud the heck off my IMac? I cant get a straight answer form apple on how it actually works, and it screws up everything

I jsut want to get away from ICloud. I dont understand it, it screws up everything, i never wanted it, Apple people will never help me, they say i need to talk to an ICloud specialist, and i am paying for something i do not want...how do i get it off my devices and compeuter? Anyone?

iMac 21.5″, macOS 11.1

sign out of iCloud in preferences.
