I was working on an iMovie project and the software crashed. When I ran iMovie again, all of the transition options were gone, I cannot do a dissolve, fade, etc. How do I get them back into iMovie?

Try deleting preferences. Open iMovie while holding down the Option and Command keys and selecting to delete preferences in the box that appears. iMovie will open in a new blank library with nothing in it. Reopen your old library to get back to your projects. Now see if the transitions appear.
