Deleting photos from Apple Watch

I have been trying to free up space on my Apple Watch to install an update. Under my usage it says 14.1 MB is being used for photos. When I went to “about” under general settings, it said I had 15 photos on my watch. I went under photos in the watch app and selected “none” under synced albums. When I went on my watch and selected the photos app, there are 15 random photos from my “recent” photo album. I have no other albums other than “recent.” I have tried restarting my watch and my phone. After resetting my phone, the watch now has 16 photos in the photos app. I am out of ideas on how to get rid of these photos. Can you help me please? Thank you for your time and help!

Unpair your Apple Watch via the Watch app on your iPhone.

Then Re-pair your Apple Watch, this frees up a surprisingly large amount of storage space. And without any loss of data.
