moving from 32 byte to 64 byte

If I upgrade from High Sierra to Catalina, as it appears macOS Mojave is not available for upgrade, this changes 32byte to 64byte, I believe? How will this affect my previous data? Will I still be able to access previous data created under the 32byte system after upgrading to Catalina?

I look forward to a response

All Macs have been 64 bit since Mountain Lion. Apple kept the ability to run 32 bit apps on 64 bit systems for years. Catalina was the end of the line for that support.
