Which system version do you have installed?

Any system version since MacOS 10.10.3 Yosemite includes the Photos for Mac application, the successor to iPhoto. You can open your iPhoto Libraries in Photos.

  • Launch Photos while holding down the options key ⌥.
  • Release ⌥, when you are seeing the Library Chooser dialog and select the iPhoto Library, that you want to open.
  • Photos will now create a new Photos library in the same folder as your iPhoto Library.
