Hi V_J_R,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand the display on your TV is flickering, while it's connected to your Apple TV 4K. We'll be happy to help.

Is the cable for your HDMI 2.0 or later? This is the requirement for an Apple TV 4K: Set up your Apple TV If you are using a 2.0 or later HDMI cable, we suggest to try another cable that is 2.0 or later and see if you continue to experience the same behavior. This can help determine if the cable is causing this issue.

In addition, we recommend to verify the recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points through this helpful article: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points

Please keep us posted with the results.

Kind regards.

See here. Same issue.

Nothing helps. Neither new HDMI cable nor any configuration. The ATV keeps switching video modes that causes the black screen. This can happen very frequently. Restarting the ATV fixes only temporary.

Even if you tell the ATV not to switch video modes in regard to frame rate and colour range, it keeps going from HDR to SDR and vice versa.

I checked with different high speed and ultra high speed cables. But in essence the problem is still the same: sometimes the screen starts to go black every few minutes as if the Apple TV keeps changing the video format.

What makes me even more think that this is not a cable issue is that restarting the Apple TV always solves the problem for a few days.

Is there any way to check why the Apple TV changes the video format? Especially as this happens right in the middle while playing a movie regardless if streamed locally or from one of the streaming providers.
