Does it matter where I click the on the mouse? It seems if I click on the right side I get the Back, Forward, Reload, ... option window more often. If I click the middle nothing appears or I am directed to selected option from the window. It's frustrating when trying to navigate through a site.

Yes. Pressing the left side is a normal click. The right side is a control click.
