Which iPad model do you have?
Apple Pencil 2 ONLY works with 2018/2020 iPad Pro models and the 2020 iPad Air 4.
All other new iPad models use the original, 1st gen Apple Pencil with the silver, chrome, metallised top with magnetic cap.
