last year I bought a renewed iPhone XR from Amazon and went through all the logistics to make sure it was real (it’s a real iPhone) and recently I went online to set up apple care for it because I have a screen protector for the front but I worry about the back sometimes and it said I was ineligible for additional care. Why is it saying that, how can I fix it and get apple care for my phone.

You can buy Applecare on an Apple refurbished device (https://www.apple.com/shop/refurbished) but you bought yours from Amazon which probably doesn't count. Even if it was eligible, Applecare has to be bought within 60 days of purchase of your device.

"Renewed" phones from Amazon are refurbished models made by a company contracted with by Amazon and not Apple. They are not eligible for AppleCare +. You can check to see if Amazon offers some type of extended warranty.
