The symptoms of a swollen battery?

My MacBook Pro for the first time had a problem this morning after 8 years. The lid doesn’t close properly and feels a bit stiff going up & down. A quick online search showed that lid not closing is an indication of a swollen battery but I don’t have any other problems that seems to accompany this issue. Trackpad works fine, no visible bumps, battery lasts perfectly fine and systems information says battery health condition is normal. My question is that would it say change battery if the issue was swelling? Is it safe to use the MacBook if health information says condition is normal?

Your computer needs to be inspected by an authorized service center. A swelling battery is dangerous.
