keyboard issue on iPad

when i am typing on my iPad and hitting on the top row of my keyboard (q-p) if i hit the key just right the number above the letter comes up and i have to go back and redo the word. how do i get rid of this function? can i simply just get rid of the numbers on the top row and resort to hitting the .?123 key to get to the numbers?

iPad Air 2, iPadOS 13

Go to settings > general > keyboard and turn OFF the item that talks about Key Flicks
