Preview Pane is missing in Mail...Catalina 10.15.7 and Mail 13.4 - no single dot, no classic view available - frustrated!

How do I get it back? Can only click on an email now to read it

With "Show Side Panel" checked in the View menu, hover the cursor over the right edge of the Mail window until it changes to a left pointing arrow. Click then drag to the left until the preview pane pops open.
