Just got this new Mac Book Pro M1 and I've noticed an issue with the display brightness. I set it to a 90% level and after a while I notice that it has gotten darker. The brightness setting then shows a lower level. I've unchecked the "automatically adjust brightness" setting on the Display panel. Don't know where else to look. Did not have this issue on my older MBP with Catalina.

I don't know if this is what you are seeing… Open System Preferences > Battery > Battery. Try unchecking "Slightly dim the display…".

Perhaps there is an issue with some M1 MacBook Pros. It may be a software problem which may be fixed with the upcoming 11.2 version. You can of course contact Apple Support.
Have to hand it to you. Think you nailed it. I unchecked the "slightly dim display on battery" and then problem went away. Looks like the word "slightly" takes on different meaning on 11.1...
No, the display not just dims a little, it changes to 50% or so even when plugged in.
