Unable to verify the printer on the network
Hi,
So, firstly, before I go into details, my issue seems to be very, very similar to the issues raised here:
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6573512
and here:
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/250127650 (which then points to the above thread and finds solution in that)
The problem:
For some reason as of a week ago, my MacBook Pro is no longer able to connect to my printer.
I assumed initially that it was a printer problem so went through numerous processes via the Brother Help pages, cycling through various steps as instructed, disconnecting it, switching it off an on, getting the computer to try and ping it.
However, and I should have done this earlier and saved myself some time....I decided to try my iMac. and the printer did respond to it and print something....then my iPad too..... so I then realised it was a problem with the MBP and not the printer.
In System Preferences -> Printers & Scanners the printer is showing up, and as per usual, green dot underneath the model name/number and 'Idle, Last Used'
I've tried removing the printer completely and re-adding it. The computer finds it, adds it but still cannot print.
I tried Network Utility, ping the printer's IP....no luck
I tried changing the IP protocol too.....as per the user on the other thread....no luck
I tried rebooting in safe mode and then re-booting again. No luck.
I tried re-setting and switching the router off and on....no joy there either.
Have I missed something?
Any help much appreciated.
