post production noise gate
Help! I am not terribly smart about Garage Band so be patient. I narrated a long book (24 hours (yeah I know I'm nuts)), audio files using Mac 11.1 Big Sur and GarageBand 10.4.2. Pre-production noise gate was set at -85dB. I converted the audio files to MP3 and submitted for publication. The audiobook failed, too much background noise, with the suggestion from ACX Audiobooks that I set noise gate to -64dB. I need to do this post-production as I have no desire to re-narrate the book. Do I just go into each chapter audio file and slide the noise gate to -64dB and then reconvert to MP3 file and submit...or am I missing something? I'm a writer and a story-teller (and a surgeon); I know nothing about sound production. Thanks in advance.
