Trackpad on MacBook Pro 15" Retina 2013

After the laptop has been running for a while the right hand side of the trackpad will not respond to two finger taps or gestures (eg scrolling or right click) the left hand side keeps on working but there is not enough space for three or four finger gesture (eg opening control centre). The right hand side continues to respond to single finger taps and will still work move the cursor and will grab and drop.

Hmm this could be a hardware issue with the trackpad cable— the "running for a while" —ie heating up is a clue if there is generic fault in the trace and heat makes it expand causing a failure.

for a software issue you can try:

Try resetting NVRAM/PRAM http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379
