How do I prevent my iphone from backing up to my mac? I want to be able to connect but not have to do a backup. I backup thru cloud but dont want to do it any other way. Im looking for a way to avoid it but it gives me no other option but: Welcome to your new iPhone. Would you like to set up this iPhone as new or restore from previous backup.

That just means it's the first time you connect the iiPhone to this particular computer. Just select the Set Up as new option.

thank you! Do you know how to get the most recent backup on my Mac? In other words, the one I have as an option is the old one that I manually did by connecting my iPhone to it months ago, but it doesn't list the one I just did last night thru the cloud.

The problem is that I don't get anything but these options when I plug it in.
Are you asking about restoring a previously made backup to your phone from your computer, or backing up your phone to your computer?
I actually don't want to do either. My main goal is trying to sync photos from my Mac to my iPhone that aren't showing up like they are supposed to during regular backup. Does that make sense?
On your phone go to Settings/[your name]/iCloud and turn on the switch for Photos. On your Mac do the same in System Preferences/iCloud (or System Preferences/Apple ID on later versions of Mac OS).
I did that already. It seems as if my iPhone thanks it’s photos to my math but not vice versa
It may take time to sync if you have a lot of photos. Leave it plugged in and connected to Wi-Fi.
