Disk is gone

I started my Macbook Pro to find a flashing folder with question mark on it. I googled how to fix it. I cannot find any of my disks in the disk repair utility. Hence I cannot repair it. So I had to press Reinstall OS. it led me to installing OS X Mountain Lion. But when it asked me to select the disk where I want to install, nothing appeared for me to select. What happened?! I used it a week ago and it was fine.
