"too many redirects occurred" message adding Gmail to Apple mail app

When I try to add a Gmail email account to my iPhone mail App, I click Add Account, then Google, then a popup shows up saying "Settings" Wants to Use "google.com" to Sign In" so I click Continue. Safari then opens and says "Safari cannot open the page because too many redirects occurred." Any ideas on how to solve this would be appreciated! I would like to have my emails show up on the Apple mail app instead of using the gmail app.

Hi toochez007,

It seems you're having an issue with too many redirects showing up as an error when you add your Google account and we can help.

Make sure your device is up to date: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Try a different Wi-Fi connection or use cellular data.

If you're using a VPN service, disconnect from the VPN and try again.

Check to see if you have cookies blocked and that's causing the issue with signing in.

Go to Settings > Safari > Block All Cookes, and make sure that's turned off.

Then using Safari navigate to the gmail website and login.

Also, go to Settings > Safari and disable Prevent cross-site tracking.

Then go to Settings > Safari > Advanced and make sure Javascript is turned on.

Let us know if you're able to add your Mail account in Settings after that.

Best of luck.
