Is there anyway to retrieve text messages from one person i have had for years. It was January 8 and before my [hone backs up every night. i can get message from back up but don't know how to go back and get previous backups?

Backups overwrite the previous backups. You cannot go back. And when you restore a backup, it is all or none. You cannot just restore selective data from a backup. You would be better to restore the latest backup you have when the message was on the device. If you have created a backup since you deleted the message, it is very possible that the message cannot be recovered.
