This is a little confusing, so bear with me...

I created my Apple ID long back when it was Mobile Me. Shortly after I bought my first iPhone (yes, the first gen) and when I was setting it up I made it so that purchases on my phone would be separate from other things. As things changed with MobileMe, in the transition to .Mac and eventually to iCloud, I didn’t notice that I had ended up with two different iCloud accounts.

Flash forward to modern times and a house filled with a modern iPhone SE, iPad Pro (1st Gen), iPod Mini, and Apple TV HD (just to name a few.) I have found my iPad and all other iOS based devices are on separate purchase accounts.

(Now to the meat of it).... Can I change the purchase account on my iPad and computer to match that of my iPhone, Apple TV, and iPod Mini without losing all the previously downloaded and purchased items on them?

Family Sharing may be your solution. Purchases are forever ties to the Apple IDs that made them.

Family Sharing allows multiple Apple IDs to share most of each other's purchases.
