Two old iMacs as screens to Mac Mini-which one?

Hi as per topic. I do own iMac 2009 (21.5) and 2011(21.5) and would like to upgrade machine to the best performance one (mac Mini) question is which should i use as i want both iMacs used as displays(extended ones)? Which Mini Mac (year, model) would still allow me to do that.

iMac, OS X 10.11

First no small 2009 or 2010 iMacs can be used in Target Display Mode,

only the 27 inch models can.

And, you can't "daisy chain" the 2009 to the 2011 because the two

Thunderbolt ports are strictly "point" connections, i.e. not passthrough.

So, the 2011 iMac is the only one you can use in Target Display Mode

connected to a 2014 or 2018 Mini.

How to Use Your Old iMac as a Monitor (lifewire.com)

some people say target display mode does not work with newer versions of macOS at all, never having tried it

I can't say if it's true, also imacs use an awful lot more current than a normal monitor, so getting normal monitors would save on the electric bill

Why shouldn't i use an iMac (2009 nor 2011) thru Mac Mini 2014-18 hdmi output using adapter (hdmi to display or thunderbolt port)? Also currently using 2009 iMac as an extension to 2011 iMac thru thunderbolt cable (2011thunderbolt to 2009 display port) lacking voice only, but don't need it for this config. Mac Mini 2014-2018 uses thunderbolt 2 outputs and hdmi, so why shouldn't that work?
