Can I increase storage space on my iPad

It is impossible to increase the amount of internal storage in your iPad - as this is fixed during manufacture; what you have is fixed for the life of your device. 

You can, however, subscribe to a higher tier of iCloud storage - but this is not a substitute for internal storage.

If you are referring to the hardware, internal storage, on your iPad, that can never be changed from what it had when manufactured.

You can, however, change the size of your iCloud Storage space.

Otherwise, all you can do is “Optimize” the use of your internal, hardware storage, vs. offloading data to iCloud Storage.
