The system requirements are given as:

  • HomePod with the latest version of software (which seems redundant)
  • iPhone SE, iPhone 6s or later, or iPod touch (7th generation) with the latest iOS; or iPad Pro, iPad (5th generation or later), iPad Air 2 or later, or iPad mini 4 or later with the latest iPadOS
  • 802.11 Wi-Fi Internet access


You need Wi-Fi Internet access for setup and to use all of the features of HomePod such as Siri. It is potentially possible to use HomePod for AirPlay without Wi-Fi in peer-to-peer mode once it has been configured to allow for playback by everyone.
