Upgrade Mavericks to Big Sur

I have a mid 2014 Macbook Pro, checked and it is compatible with Big Sur. It is currently still on mavericks.

When trying to update and download Big Sur from the app store i get the error:

"downloading the installer build manifest failed."

What should I do? Downloading from the menu bar -> software update doesn't work either.

I can't run any apps because of this.

Delete the failed installer app download from the Applications folder. Try downloading again from a really good wi-fi, or a wired connection.
