No "open in controls view" option in Logic Pro x

I'm on Logic Pro X 10.6.1.

For the last couple of weeks for some reason when I open a plugin the editor defaults to Controls view rather than RemoteView. It means the full plugin window with all the nice graphics doesn't open but just a series of sliders and numbers - not cool for my creative juices. I looked up the solution and everyone says look in preferences> displays>mixer and the option should be there - BUT ITS NOT!!! I don't have the option to "Open In Controls View" (which I want to untick). By the way, I have gone in to advanced and enabled everything there.

Am I going crazy? Any solutions gratefully received.

That checkbox has been moved in the 10.6 update to a new Accessibility tab in the General page of the Logic Preferences

Hope that helps,
