How can I find old iMessages that I’ve deleted?

If you use iCloud to sync your messages, the short answer is that you cannot. They are gone forever.


If you don't sync them, you may recover them from a backup. But be cautious: if you restore a backup you will loose everything that was on your phone since the backup.
