Malfunction of iPad keyboard

Why would my iPad automatically type two or more letters and or just puts a period after a word and starts a new sentence?

If you're talking about your internal (software) keyboard, remove cover or screen protector that might interfere with your screen touch, and check the enabled/disabled options in Settings>General>Keyboard.

If you're talking about an external (hardware) keyboard, have it inspected at an Apple Store or Authorized Service Provider.
