Unable to Install Software Update

My MacBook Air does not let me do any software updates. It is currently on MacOS Sierra 10.12.6 and has 18.88 GB free space. Every time I try to check for updates, it tells me that there are not update available. Can you please help me?

Back up your data, check your applications for compatibility, and depending on which MacBook Air model you have, download High Sierra, Catalina, or Big Sur through the links provided. They're full-version upgrades and won't appear in the Updates list.
