Podcasts Connect requires an iTunes Store account.

I get this message when trying to create a podcasts connect page, even though I have an Apple ID.

You have to be signed in in the iTunes /Apple Music Store, have a payment method registered there (though podcasting is free) and your computer must be authorised to play iTunes purchases.
